History of Come and See
by Liz Lemon Swindle

October 31, 2008

Usually I end my week on Friday, but I’m going to paint tomorrow.

It was a great day. I worked again on Nathaniel and the background surrounding him. I like his look.

Christ said he was without guile and his face certainly conveys that. This has been a pretty difficult character in this painting, but today I think I have not only overcome the challenge, but with the Lord’s help I have grown because of it and conquered the challenge.

It looks lika a couple of more days and I will finish this piece.

November 1, 2008

This has been such an extraordinary day. I have been so blest. The Spirit has filled my room, my heart, my mind and inspired me throughout this day.

I finished Nathaniel, Matthew, Mark and Simon Zebote.

I am truly spent in every way. I can go home tonight and rest, knowing I gave my all and was blest.

I look forward to the Sabbath. What a great gift that is.

November 3, 2008

I’m pretty worn out! I came in around 6:30 this morning and have painted hard and steady all day.

Charlie is coming to photograph this on Wednesday afternoon. I am down to the wire. Basically, I have the Saviior’s robe and 4 different hands to finish and it is done.

I’ve been blessed to keep my focus on the work today, considering tomorrow is election day and I’ve been pretty anxious about it. I’m more resigned today. Perhaps I’ve finally put it in the Lord’s hands, as if I could alter the election in anyway.

I do feel good about my study of the candidates and in the end I will vote with wisdom and clarity.

November 4, 2008

I worked on Jesus’ prayer shawl and various hands; mostly finishing work. Holly is here sketching and she always cheers up a room – not that my studio need cheering up. All in all, it was a very pleasant, peaceful day. I am grateful!

November 7, 2008

I’m finished! This is very emotional! Finishing a painting is always very raw and very personal. My whole heart has gone into this piece and it always does. I have put all on the alter and feel at peace with my offering.

The gratitude I feel for this gift cannot be expressed in words and my daily entries can only express a fraction of what I have experience. Please know as you view ‘Come and See’ that you have my heart and soul.

Make no mistake, I love the Savior more than anything in my existence and this piece continues to bear my testimony!
