Forgive Me Joseph
Liz Lemon Swindle

Our spouses can bring us more joy and strength than any other relationship on earth. I think this was the case with Joseph and Emma. They were driven from town to town, rarely had a home of their own, and suffered mercilessly at the hands of mobs and devils, many times left with little else but each other.

After the death of Joseph, the Saints began to prepare for the trek west. Over the coming years as the saints came through Nauvoo, I could imagine Emma going to the bank of the river and watching them cross.

I can see her watch. . .

The art itself is good, but the title and the story behind it? Please! There was nothing that she needed to be forgiven of. He's the one with 33 other wives, he's the one that lied and even gave false prophesies! He wasn't at all what the Church makes him out to be. He's the one that should be begging for forgiveness! NOT Emma.

What pathetic, ignorant and vicious artwork. If the truth isn't useful ( i.e faith promoting)then tell a lie- and this one is a whopper. Emma had lots of regrets but staying behind wasn't one of them. It is disgraceful that Liz would slander a woman who has suffered so much just so her husband could woo the maid, the female boarders, his foster daughters, the wives of his friends, his wife's closest friends.... I second the suggestion that she read Mormon Enigma. Anyone who buys this will get Swindled.

Not only is Mrs Swindles art unrealistic. I don't like the zombie like feel that her pioneers have. The depressing facial expressions and the message she's portraying.

I strongly suggest the artist read "Mormon Enigma." It's available here: http://www.amazon.com/Mormon-Enigma-Emma-Hale-Smith/dp/0252062914

this is beyond sad. the church's ability to take a talented woman, such as liz, and somehow burrow its way into her mind in such a way that any semblance of compassion or sympathy for emma has been totally lost in a sea of brainwashing, is quite compelling. come on liz, embrace your feminism and think for yourself on his one...

I agree. What a disgrace. I can imagine her rolling over in her grave right now. Sad. Disrespectful.

This makes Emma look stubborn and defiant instead of tired of Joseph's shenanigans or of Brigham Young's hatred for her. A better title would be, "One day, maybe I can forgive you Joseph."

Once again, LDS history is spun to suit the church agenda.
